 | Leap's 29th Annual Sandcastle Contest took place on 10/20/12, and our theme was "2012 Leap Year: Things that Jump." Leap's annual Sandcastle Contest returned to Ocean Beach on October 20th, and 28 teams participated with hundreds of architects, builders, designers and school kids-cheered on by hundreds of spectators. Twenty-eight unique awards were given, including six judge's choice categories that featured awards for Best Soundtrack and Proof that Pigs Can Fly. The event's highest honor, " Drum for Life founder and musician Wade Peterson contributed to the festivities with drum performances and dance demonstrations. Sandcastle 2012 raised over $242K for Leap's top-notch arts education programs around the Bay Area This was the 29th annual, and it raised more than $220,000 for the arts-related programs that Leap brings to 41 Bay Area public elementary schools. |
