Category: Music2013-07-27
logoPraised by Sergio Assad as a "unique guitar duo...beautiful blending of voice, guitars, and creative repertoire," Alexandra Iranfar and Timothy Sherren formed One Great City in 2011, and immediately began building a repertoire unique to them, combining Alexandra's abilities as a guitarist and soprano with their dedication to contemporary music. One Great City performs chamber music of the highest order, including Timothy's arrangements of Samuel Barber, Cole Porter and Ned Rorem as well as recent commissions for new pieces from composers Renaud Cote-Giguere and Benjamin Dameron. Recently, One Great City was named Artist in Residence for Chamber Music in Marin Concert Series. Alexandra and Timothy won the San Francisco Chamber Music in Marin competition; their concert debut will be presented by the Delphi Trio at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in San Francisco on November 18, 2012. Both Alexandra and Timothy are Master of Music candidates and Scholarship recipients at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where they study privately and as a duo under Grammy Award winning artist Sergio Assad, and are coached as a duo by David Tanenbaum.
