GAPA Mens Chorus

Type: performer
logophotoIn 1988, the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) was formed. Its mission was to create awareness and visibility for marginalized gay and bisexual Asian and Pacific Islander men to develop a positive collective identity and to establish a support network. A year later, the GAPA Men’s Chorus was born as a social outlet for members.

The original group debuted on 03 November 1989 at the Metropolitan Community Church in San Francisco and, for almost three decades, it has been a unique voice for music not often sung in choral circles – the forgotten songs of home, in the vast cultural landscape of Asia and the islands of the Pacific Ocean.
