logophotoWest Oakland Branch has approximately 38,000 books, compact discs, DVDs, audio books, and magazines and newspapers for all ages. Circulating materials are largely of popular interest with a strong emphasis on practical how-to topics and local history.

Special interest collections include the African American nonfiction collection, a small Arabic collection for children and adults, and Spanish language materials for children. West Oakland has an extensive children's section focused on providing early literacy materials to children and their parents, as well as a growing teen collection and graphic novel collection for all ages.

The branch is equipped with six computers with Internet access available for public use and a study room that can be reserved 3 months in advance.
